Target Audience

A Target audience is the group of people a particular product is aimed at for example Horror films that are targeted towards young adults will have a substantial amount of gore and harsh language in it that would be distasteful to older viewers and inappropriate for younger audiences.

Genre

Genre is the classification a product falls into for example films fall into multiple genres including Horror,Thriller,Action,Chick flick or a comedy each with their own conventions that viewers expect too see.

Conventions

 Conventions are the typical features that are expected in a given Genre such as a fan of Horror would expect to find Suspense,Gore and Jump scares throughout the film or an Action film is known to have gunfights and car chases often occurring and the fans of each genre expect and enjoy seeing these conventions in the films they like.

Codes

Codes are the technical or symbolic ways in which we makes sense of media products such as the more scary sections of horror films taking place at night so the audience realizes the Characters are in danger.
